“It’s all gone”: Actor James Woods sobs over loss of Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles wildfire

James Woods, 77, has lost his Pacific Palisades home in the Southern California fires that have caused widespread devastation across Los Angeles. The fires, which continue to ravage parts of the region, have prompted mass evacuations and destroyed numerous homes, including Woods’ own property. During a heartfelt interview on CNN with Pamela Brown, the actor, known for his roles in Vampires and Once Upon a Time in America, spoke about the shocking destruction of his home. “One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone,” Woods said, breaking down as he reflected on the suddenness of the disaster.

Woods shared a poignant moment when his wife, Sara Miller-Woods, and her 8-year-old niece decided to help rebuild their home. The young girl retrieved her piggy bank, a gesture of love and support during such a traumatic time. Woods described the scene as both emotional and uplifting, showing the resilience of his family in the face of adversity.

“It was so overwhelming,” Woods explained. “My wife’s niece got her piggy bank to help us rebuild. It was a small thing, but it meant so much.”

As the fires raged through the neighbourhood, Woods also spoke of his efforts to assist a 94-year-old neighbour who suffers from dementia. “He’d been left alone,” Woods recalled. “There was so much chaos, it was like an inferno. Every house was on fire around us.” Woods described helping the elderly neighbour reach safety in a situation that was nothing short of chaotic.

Woods became emotional as he recalled the destruction, admitting, “I thought I would be stronger than this,” before wiping away tears. In response, CNN’s Pamela Brown reminded him of his strength, stating, “Strength is not measured by whether you hold in crying… strength is what you are doing now in helping your neighbours and shining a light on the great, amazing work of all those firefighters and emergency crews.”

On Tuesday, Woods took to social media platform X to share images and videos of the devastation in his neighbourhood. He posted photographs showing his community engulfed in flames, as the fire spread rapidly. “There is no possession as priceless as friends and good neighbours during a tragedy,” Woods wrote. “I can’t believe the blessings we enjoy, and I am humbly grateful.

His posts highlighted the importance of community support during such a crisis, with Woods expressing gratitude for the outpouring of help he had received.
