When it comes to Michael Jackson, this time of year is typically all about one single—and usually just that tune. “Thriller” is one of the most famous Halloween songs, and it surges in popularity around October. While that track is performing well in some ways, it’s another smash by the same superstar that’s actually stealing the spotlight globally.
“Billie Jean” rises once again on both of Billboard’s worldwide charts. The tune has been steadily climbing for several frames now, and it’s bigger than ever before on the two tallies.
Jackson’s smash establishes a new peak on both of the company’s rankings of the most-consumed tracks all around the planet. “Billie Jean” shoots more than 30 rungs on the Billboard Global Excl. US this week, settling at No. 100. The same single improves to No. 119 on the Billboard Global 200. Those are the loftiest positions that “Billie Jean” has ever seen on the two lists.
“Billie Jean” has been reaching new peaks on the Billboard Global Excl. US fairly regularly lately. In fact, this week is the third in a row in which the single has risen higher than ever before on the list, which tracks the most-consumed cuts throughout the world, only with all listening data from America removed.
Last week, “Billie Jean” landed at No. 131 on the Billboard Global Excl. US, which marked a new high for the single. The period prior, it pushed forward to No. 145, which was also, at the time, a previously unknown peak.
At this rate, there’s every reason to believe that “Billie Jean” will continue to dance its way up the Billboard Global Excl. US. When the chart is refreshed again tomorrow (Tuesday, October 29), the smash might appear in yet another new peak.
Oddly, while “Billie Jean” is rising higher and higher, “Thriller” is nowhere to be found on either of Billboard’s global tallies. This is the time when it theoretically should be surging, but fans of the late musician seem to prefer the other single from the same Thriller album, at least for the time being.
