Simone Biles hit her elbow and fell on her back while performing a complicated maneuver on the parallel bars (equipment used by male gymnasts). Fred Richard, who was watching her from the side, made a joke on this. Both gymnasts are currently part of this year’s Gold Over America Tour.
Biles, the triple gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, first set sail with her Gold Over America tour after her Tokyo Olympic heartbreak in 2021. She offered a platform for the gymnasts to embrace their true selves, empower young girls, and bring gymnastics to people who can’t travel worldwide for major competitions. In the second edition of the tour, male gymnasts were involved as well.
The gymnasts often engage in fun sessions, especially trying out new skills or women trying men’s gymnastics equipment between rehearsals. In a recent Instagram video by Ian Gunther, the women attempted maneuvering in the parallel bars, which didn’t favor Simone Biles when she tried flipping on her second try.
She hit her elbow on the standing frame before falling on her back and rolling over to the side hilariously. Fred Richard, the Olympic bronze medalist, noted that Biles almost died from getting hit during the routine.
Six-time All-American Katelyn Ohashi instead thought that a complete swing was impressive.
“Honestly, pretty cool.”
On the other hand, Canadian gymnast Peng-Peng Lee humorously said that the routine could be Simone Biles’ eponymous skill on parallel bars.
“That’s called ‘Biles’ on the P bars.”
In an Instagram post by Ian Gunther from the past week, the gymnasts tried the full twisting dive roll, and only a few were spot on. When Gunther’s skill got approved, Simone Biles tried following his steps.
