It looks like Taylor Swift is shifting gears from her hectic touring schedule to focus on her relationship with Travis Kelce. Insiders have said that 2025 is going to be a year where Swift makes her romance a top priority — and in a way she has seemingly struggled with in the past.
Swift is renowned for her meticulous control over her public image, a strategy that has helped keep her such a dominant force in both music and pop culture. After a year with Kelce, however, it seems like she is entering a new phase, one where she is consciously letting go of the reins a bit.
“Taylor’s really making a conscious effort to go with the flow a lot more now and let her hair down,” a source told Life & Style Magazine. “When they first got together, she was a lot more focused on the timing of everything, when they’d have their first public date, their first public kiss, what their PR messaging would be. That’s her style, she micromanages her image and always has.”
Almost all of Swift’s relationships have faced some level of public scrutiny, often intensified by her efforts to control their public perception. Even when she tried to keep her relationship with ex Joe Alwyn private, it seemed to backfire. The scarcity of public information, combined with her fans’ keen sleuthing skills, led to significant speculation over the span of their six-year relationship.
An insider reveals that while Taylor and Travis “used to hide out at home a lot because Taylor was afraid they might make a public misstep and get torn to shreds,” she’s now “determined to stop overthinking things.” This change was clear when the couple casually dropped by Lucali, a popular pizza spot in Brooklyn, on Sept. 6. “Travis wanted pizza and he wanted to hang with normal people like he always used to,” the source added.
This newfound flexibility is also showing in her friendships. She’s stayed close to Brittany Mahomes (and has caught some heat for doing so) despite what appear to be very different political viewpoints. She’s also been discreetly supporting Blake Lively in the aftermath of the It Ends With Us promotional tour.
And now that Swift’s friends who seemed to have doubts about Kelce before have been pleasantly proved wrong about what they initially thought were “red flags.” With the green light from her inner circle, it seems like Swift is finally ready to let her hair down and let things unfold as naturally as they can. “But at this point, she just wants to take the shackles off and let people judge them based on what comes naturally,” the insider continued.
“You can see the change just based on what she wore to the game,” the insider continued, referencing Swift’s double denim ensemble at the season opener for the Kansas City Chiefs. “In the past she felt like she had to dress like the perfect NFL girlfriend and to her that meant head to toe team gear. This time she wore what she felt sexy in, she didn’t wear fan merch or team colors.”
After nearly two years of nonstop touring, it seems like a wise choice for Swift to step back from the PR management of a celebrity relationship and simply enjoy being in one.
