Named to match their birth order, these six siblings are forever bonded by their alphabetical initials.
In a now-viral TikTok, Lauren Humphreys mentioned that she’s one of the “JKLMNO” kids, as she and her brothers and sisters have come to call themselves. The post reached 3.3 million viewers and garnered more than 446,000 likes, though the concept did spark some questions from TikTok users, leading Humphreys, 34, to share a few more details in a follow-up video.
As she explained in a second TikTok, their parents only realized the pattern after having their first two kids, Humphreys’ older sisters Jolene and Kelsie. Once they caught on to their own coincidence, her parents decided to play directly into it as their family grew.
Humphreys tells PEOPLE the mid-alphabetical letters actually ended up fitting some of her parents’ original plans for names anyway. From as early on as their first pregnancy, they wanted to have a son named Matthew. They were willing to settle for an “L” name for baby No. 3, leading to Lauren’s name, then got to use the name Matthew after all for her little brother, baby No. 4.
“Had Matt been a girl, they would have used the name Molly,” Humphreys tells PEOPLE. After Matthew came a second son, Nolan, and a fourth daughter, Olivia.
According to the TikTok creator, the JKLMNO names have created a tight connection between the brothers and sisters, whose ages vary from 24 to 38.
